Crisp folds.
Quiet elegance.
Pleated blinds — made to your exact measurements, in any fabric from light-filtering sheers to total blackout. Suitable for every window shape, including skylights, roof lanterns and triangular glazing.
About Pleated Blinds
Simple in concept.
Versatile in practice.
When raised, pleated blinds stack to a minimal depth — keeping the window as open as possible.
Triangular, hexagonal, trapezoidal — pleated blinds are the go-to solution for non-rectangular glazing.
From ultra-sheer voiles to complete blackout — and everything in between including solar control and thermal.
Many pleated blinds can be operated from the top, the bottom, or both — giving exceptional light and privacy control.
A pleated blind is one of the most elegantly simple window coverings available. A single length of fabric is folded into precise, equal pleats — and when raised, those folds stack neatly at the top or bottom of the window, leaving the glass almost entirely unobstructed. When lowered, the blind sits flat and smooth across the window with a crisp, tailored appearance that suits almost any interior style.
The beauty of pleated blinds lies partly in what they can do that other blinds cannot. Their relatively simple mechanism can be adapted to almost any window shape — including triangular gable windows, hexagonal skylights, trapezoidal eaves windows and other non-rectangular glazing that defeats roller blinds and most other systems. For shaped windows particularly, a pleated blind is often the only clean solution available.
We work with multiple suppliers across the UK to give you access to one of the widest fabric ranges available — from ultra-fine day-filtering sheers and solar control fabrics to complete blackout options and thermally insulating honeycomb weaves. Every blind is made to your exact window dimensions and fitted by our own team.
We're a small, independent team based in Preston — and we've been specifying and fitting pleated blinds since 2007. When you book a survey, one of us comes to your home with a full fabric sample set and honest advice. No pressure, no upselling — just the right blind for your window.
Fabric Options
The right fabric
for every room.
Pleated blind fabric is where the real decision lies — the mechanism is essentially the same across all options, but the fabric you choose determines how the blind performs, how the room feels and how much light it admits or blocks. We'll bring a full sample set to your home survey.
Softens and diffuses natural light without blocking it — the most popular choice for living rooms, dining rooms and anywhere you want a bright, comfortable room without direct glare. Available in a wide range of colours, textures and opacities from near-sheer to gentle dimout.
Living Rooms · Dining Rooms · Day Use
Blocks all incoming light — essential for bedrooms, nurseries and home cinema rooms. Blackout pleated blinds are particularly popular for skylights and roof lanterns where standard curtains aren't a practical option. Available in a range of colours and used widely in concealed blind systems.
Bedrooms · Nurseries · Skylights
A honeycomb cellular weave traps air between the fabric layers, creating a thermal barrier that reduces both heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer. Particularly effective on large roof glazing, north-facing windows and rooms with older, less insulated frames. Available in blackout and light-filtering versions.
Thermal · Energy Saving · All Seasons
Designed to manage solar gain — reducing glare and heat from direct sunlight without blocking the view or darkening the room significantly. A popular choice for south-facing windows, conservatories, glazed extensions and home offices where screen glare is a problem in summer months.
Conservatories · South-facing · OfficesA single layer of fabric folded into equal pleats. The standard and most versatile configuration — available in the full fabric range from sheer to blackout. Compact when stacked, clean when closed. Works beautifully in most window types and is the right choice for the majority of domestic applications.
A honeycomb double-cell fabric — two layers of pleated material bonded together with air trapped between the cells. The result is a fabric that insulates as well as it shades — reducing heat loss through glazing by up to 50% and absorbing sound significantly. The definitive thermal blind, particularly popular for roof glazing, conservatories and rooms where energy efficiency is a priority.
Shaped Windows
When other blinds
won't fit.
Pleated blinds are the solution most commonly specified for non-rectangular windows — the shapes that defeat roller blinds, Venetians and most other systems. The pleated mechanism can be adapted to almost any geometry, with the fabric cut precisely to the shape of the glass and tensioned with guide wires or side tracks to keep it flat and square.
We measure and specify shaped window pleated blinds as a standard part of our service — no additional charge for the shape, just precise measurement at your home survey.
The most common shaped application — a pleated blind tensioned from the apex to the base, following the exact angle of the glazing.
Angled windows under a roof line — typically requiring a parallelogram-shaped blind cut and tensioned to suit the specific pitch.
Four-sided tensioned pleated blinds for flat and pitched skylights — side tracks keep the blind flat and prevent sagging on any angle.
Feature windows with unusual geometry — pleated blinds with bespoke cut shapes and tensioning to follow every edge of the glazing.
Energy Performance
The thermal blind
that pays for itself.
Honeycomb cellular pleated blinds — often called Duette® blinds after the Luxaflex® product that pioneered the format — are the most energy-efficient window blind available. The double-cell honeycomb structure traps air in sealed pockets, creating an insulating layer directly against the glass that reduces heat loss and solar gain simultaneously.
For roof lanterns, skylights and conservatories in particular, a honeycomb pleated blind makes a significant and immediate difference to room temperature — both in summer and winter. Often the most cost-effective upgrade you can make to a glazed extension.
Smart Control
Motorised
pleated blinds.
Pleated blinds can be motorised using battery-powered or mains Somfy motors — particularly useful for skylights, roof lanterns and any window that's hard to reach manually. As a Somfy Expert Partner, we specify and install the full system including smart home integration.
No wiring needed — rechargeable Somfy battery motors suit most retrofit applications and last several months between charges.
For new builds and larger installations — a mains motor is the most robust, maintenance-free solution for frequent daily use.
Compatible with Apple HomeKit, Google Home and Amazon Alexa. Schedule blinds to open and close automatically.
Control multiple blinds across a roof lantern or skylight simultaneously from a single remote or app command.
Where They Work
At home in
every room.
Pleated blinds are one of the most versatile blinds in our range — equally at home on a standard bedroom window, a triangular gable, a roof lantern or a conservatory roof.

Blackout pleated blinds are a popular bedroom choice — particularly in rooms with angled or awkward windows where curtains or shutters aren't a practical option. Compact when open, completely light-blocking when closed.

One of the most common applications for pleated blinds — particularly honeycomb thermal options. Tensioned side tracks keep the blind flat regardless of the pitch, and motorisation makes operation effortless from below.

Solar control and thermal honeycomb pleated blinds transform a conservatory — keeping it cool in summer, warm in winter, and usable year-round. Individual panel blinds can be fitted to each roof section for flexible zone control.

Questions
Frequently
asked.
A roller blind uses a single piece of fabric that rolls around a tube. A pleated blind uses fabric folded into equal pleats that stack neatly when raised. The key advantage of pleated blinds is their ability to be adapted to shaped and non-rectangular windows — something roller blinds cannot do — and their suitability for overhead glazing like skylights and roof lanterns.
Yes — this is one of the most common applications for pleated blinds and one of the reasons they're specified so frequently for new builds and extensions with feature glazing. The blind is cut to the exact shape of the window and tensioned with guide wires to keep it flat across the full aperture. We measure and specify these as a standard part of our service.
A honeycomb blind — often called a Duette® after the Luxaflex® product — uses a double-cell pleated fabric with air trapped in sealed hexagonal pockets between the two layers. This gives the blind exceptional thermal insulating properties, reducing heat loss through glazing by up to 50%. It also absorbs sound and is available in both light-filtering and blackout versions.
Yes — and for overhead glazing like skylights and roof lanterns, motorisation is almost always the right choice. We fit Somfy battery or mains motors depending on the installation. Battery motors require no wiring and suit most retrofit applications. All our motorised systems are compatible with Somfy remote controls, Apple HomeKit, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
Many pleated blinds can be operated from the top down, the bottom up, or both simultaneously. Bottom-up is the standard — the blind raises from the sill. Top-down allows the blind to be lowered from the top of the window, admitting light from above while maintaining privacy at eye level. Both positions can be used together for maximum flexibility.
Yes — particularly honeycomb thermal options. A conservatory fitted with thermal pleated blinds on the roof glazing will be significantly more comfortable year-round — cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Individual panel blinds can be fitted to each roof section and motorised for group or individual control.
Most pleated blind orders are made and fitted within 3–5 weeks from survey. Motorised orders or shaped window blinds may take slightly longer depending on specification. We'll confirm your exact lead time when we provide your quote.
