About Me

I was 14 years old when I first got involved in the trade. My dad was a carpet fitter who had started doing some blinds on the side, and I spent weekends learning alongside him — handling materials, watching how things were made, picking up the basics of a craft I didn't realise at the time would become my life's work.
By 23 I was ready to go it alone. In 2007 I launched JA Blinds — just me, with no safety net and no one to fall back on. What I did have was a genuine belief that if you do the work properly, treat people honestly and never cut corners, everything else takes care of itself.
That belief hasn't changed. Nearly two decades on, the business looks very different — the products are more complex, the projects more ambitious, the homes we work in sometimes extraordinary. But the way we approach every job is exactly the same as it was at the start.

to where we are.
The business has grown significantly since those early days — but deliberately, and at its own pace. We've never chased growth for its own sake. Every step forward has been about doing more things properly, not more things quickly.
Today we work in some of the most prestigious homes across the UK — and we're just as proud of the jobs we do in Preston and Chorley as the ones that take us further afield. The standard is always the same.

When we finish a job, a room is complete. Everything else is already in place — the furniture, the paint, the lighting. What we add is the layer that ties it all together. That moment when a pair of luxury curtains falls perfectly into place, or a motorised blind glides silently across a beautifully glazed extension — that's what gets me out of bed every morning. It's not just a window covering. It's the finishing touch that makes someone's home feel like theirs.

Because we supply blinds, curtains and shutters, we're never limited in what we can recommend. We look at a window and suggest the best solution for it — not the solution that happens to be the only thing we sell. That independence makes a real difference to the advice you get.

We have a survey team and a fitting team — but they work closely together and communicate everything properly. Every detail discussed at your survey is passed on so nothing is ever lost in the handover. The result is a seamless experience from the first visit to the final fitting.

Sometimes that's a simple roller blind. Sometimes it's a concealed motorised system hidden in the ceiling of a new build. We'll always give you the honest answer, not the profitable one.
The Team
Small by choice.

We're a small team and I intend to keep it that way. Some businesses grow for the sake of growing. I've never been interested in that. I'd rather do fewer jobs properly than more jobs quickly — and the people around me feel the same way.
Several members of the team have been with us for eight years or more. That continuity shows in the work. When you deal with James Albert, you're dealing with people who know this industry inside out, who take pride in what they do and who understand that every home they work in matters to the person who lives in it.
