Fauxwood Blinds Lancashire | Made to Measure | James Albert

Made-to-Measure Fauxwood Blinds

The look of wood.
Built to last.

All the warmth and character of real wood — with the moisture resistance and durability that kitchens, bathrooms and busy homes demand. Made to measure, fitted by our team.

What Are Fauxwood Blinds?

Real wood beauty.
Practical performance.

Fauxwood blinds are made from high-quality PVC composite rather than natural timber — engineered specifically to replicate the grain, texture and warmth of real wood while outperforming it in the rooms that matter most. Where real wood can warp, crack or discolour in heat and humidity, fauxwood holds its shape and finish year after year.

Every blind we supply is made to your exact measurements — no standard sizes, no compromise. We bring samples to your home so you can see the colours and grain effects in your own light before committing to a thing. The same small team that surveys your windows will be the one fitting your blinds.

Fauxwood vs Real Wood

Which is right
for you?

Both are beautiful — the choice comes down to where they're going and how they'll be used. Here's an honest comparison to help you decide.

Fauxwood Blinds

Extremely easy to clean — wipe down with a damp cloth
Authentic wood grain texture and appearance
Available in 35mm and 50mm slat widths
Child-safe compliant — meets UK safety standard EN13120

Real Wood Blinds

Lighter weight, particularly on wider windows
Available in painted, stained and natural finishes
Exceptionally premium look and feel
Not suitable for bathrooms or kitchens — can warp in humidity
More susceptible to fading in direct sunlight over time
Higher price point
Requires more careful maintenance

Slat Widths

35mm or 50mm —
which suits your window?

Slat width changes everything about how a fauxwood blind looks and feels. We'll advise on the right choice for your windows at the home survey — but here's a guide to help you think it through.

35mm fauxwood slats
35mm
The Classic Width

The most widely used slat width — versatile enough to suit almost any window size. The narrower slat creates more of a traditional Venetian blind look, with more slats visible across the drop. Works particularly well in smaller windows, bedrooms and spaces where a lighter, more refined feel is wanted. When open, 35mm slats stack tighter and let in slightly more light.

50mm
The Statement Width

Wider slats make a bolder, more contemporary statement — fewer slats across the drop gives a cleaner, more architectural look. The 50mm width shows off the wood grain more prominently and is particularly well-suited to large windows, bay windows and open-plan living spaces. When raised, the stack is slightly deeper but the overall impact is noticeably more premium.

Fauxwood blind with decorative tape

The Finishing Touch

Add decorative
tapes.

Decorative ladder tapes are one of the most effective ways to elevate a fauxwood blind from functional to genuinely beautiful. The tapes run vertically down the blind, threading through each slat and replacing the standard cord ladder — adding colour, texture and character in a single detail.

Available in 24 colour options and two widths — 25mm and 38mm — tapes can complement your blind colour or contrast it deliberately. The result is a blind that looks considered, tailored and a cut above anything off the shelf.

Herringbone Tapes

A diagonal weave pattern that adds subtle texture and a classic, sophisticated feel. Available in 25mm and 38mm widths across 24 colours.

Flatweave Tapes

A clean, flat woven tape with a more contemporary, minimal character. Particularly effective when matching the blind colour closely for a tonal, understated look.

25mm Width

A slimmer tape that works well with 35mm slats and windows where a more delicate finish is preferred. Subtle without being invisible.

38mm Width

A wider tape that makes more of a statement and pairs beautifully with 50mm slats on larger windows. A genuinely premium finishing detail.

Room by Room

Where fauxwood
works best.

Fauxwood blinds are one of the most versatile options in our range — at home in almost any room in the house. Here's where they really come into their own.

Fauxwood blinds in kitchen
Kitchens

Steam, grease and condensation make kitchens one of the most demanding rooms for any window treatment. Fauxwood handles all of it without complaint — moisture-resistant, easy to wipe clean and entirely warp-proof. The wood look adds warmth without the maintenance concern of real timber.

Fauxwood blinds in bathroom
Bathrooms & En-suites

The number one choice for bathrooms. Real wood is simply not suitable in a room with a shower or bath — the humidity causes warping over time. Fauxwood looks identical but performs perfectly in high-moisture environments, year after year.

Fauxwood blinds in living room
Living Rooms & Bay Windows

50mm fauxwood slats in a living room or bay window make a strong, confident statement. The wider slat emphasises the grain and gives a premium feel that works beautifully in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Add tapes for an extra level of detail.

Questions

Frequently
asked.

Are fauxwood blinds suitable for bathrooms?

Yes — this is one of their biggest advantages over real wood. Fauxwood is moisture-resistant and entirely warp-proof, making it the recommended choice for bathrooms, en-suites and anywhere with high humidity or steam. Real wood is not suitable in these environments.

Do fauxwood blinds look like real wood?

Very convincingly so. Modern fauxwood uses embossed PVC with a genuine grain texture — not a printed surface. Up close and in person, the difference is minimal. We bring samples to your home survey so you can see and feel the quality for yourself.

What slat width should I choose?

As a general guide, 35mm suits smaller windows and bedrooms where a more traditional look is preferred, and 50mm suits larger windows and living spaces where a bolder, more contemporary statement is wanted. We'll advise specifically at your survey based on your windows and interior.

Can I add decorative tapes?

Yes — tapes are available in 24 colours, two widths (25mm and 38mm) and two styles (herringbone and flatweave). They're a genuinely beautiful finishing detail and work particularly well on 50mm slats. We'll bring tape samples to your survey.

Can fauxwood blinds be motorised?

Yes. We fit Somfy battery-powered motors to fauxwood blinds — no wiring needed. The motor sits discreetly inside the headrail and is recharged via a USB cable when needed. Compatible with Somfy remote controls, Apple HomeKit, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

How do I clean fauxwood blinds?

Simply wipe down with a damp cloth — fauxwood doesn't absorb moisture and cleans very easily. For kitchens and bathrooms, a mild detergent is fine. No specialist products needed and no risk of damage from water.

Are fauxwood blinds child safe?

Yes. All our fauxwood blinds comply with UK child safety standard EN13120. We fit safe cord systems as standard and can advise on cordless options if preferred — particularly useful in rooms used by young children.

How long does it take from survey to fitting?

Most fauxwood blind orders are made and fitted within 2–3 weeks of the survey. We'll confirm an estimated lead time when we provide your quote. Motorised orders may take slightly longer depending on motor availability.
